Structure and organization of the institute
Each of the institute's departments is lead by a director. The institute itself is managed by the board of directors. Every three years, the position of the institute's managing director changes from one director to the next.
At the end of 2011, the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology (MPIN) consisted of six departments, three Max Planck Research Groups, two independent Research Groups, four Emeritus Groups and two External Scientific Members.
The institute has currently 250 members of staff, coming from 22 countries. The language in the labs, in seminar and other meetings is English.
