The Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology has employees from around 40 nations with highly diverse career and life paths. Our goal in the Institute is therefore to foster a culture in which all can live and work together in an open and respectful atmosphere, free of any discrimination. People who feel comfortable, who are excited by their work, and who can contribute with their ideas and strengths, are the basis of our top-level research.
In the provision of equal opportunities, we focus on the compatibility of family and work and a comprehensive fostering of individual career paths.
The Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology supports the ALBA Declaration of Equity and Inclusion as a sign of our commitment towards fair and unbiased neurosciences.
The ALBA Network advocates for equitable and diverse brain science communities.
Gender equality is an important issue also for science organizations. This is recognized by the EU, which is funding with its Horizon 2020 program a project called LeTSGEPs that brings together eight science organisations from six European countries. Together with the partner institutions, the MPIN will develop gender equality plans over the next four years and identify possible ways to achieve equal opportunities in science institutions.
